The Five SBTI
Personality Models
How is an SBTI result made? The core is five models. Here is what each one looks at, and how the scores turn into one of 27 characters.
Why five models?
Measure personality with one yardstick and it's too simple; use too many and the result doesn't land. SBTI picked the five axes that show up most in everyday behavior: Self, Emotion, Attitude, Action and Social. These five describe "you" in a fairly three-dimensional way.
What each model looks at
β Self
How much you put yourself at the center and try to lead. Higher means a stronger "I lead" tendency; lower means stepping back and following the flow.
β‘ Emotion
How richly you feel and express emotion. Higher means honest expression and easy empathy; lower gives a calm, composed impression.
β’ Attitude
Your basic stance toward the world and people β whether you engage actively or keep a cautious distance.
β£ Action
The speed and drive of turning thought into action. Higher is the just-do-it doer; lower is the careful type who measures before moving.
β€ Social
How much energy you draw from being with people. Higher means you shine in gatherings; lower means you recharge in solo time.
5 models β 15 dimensions β 27 types
Each model splits into three sub-dimensions. 5 Γ 3 = 15 dimensions. The 30 questions are designed to measure these 15 dimensions, two questions each.
- Answers are gathered into 15-dimension scores.
- Each dimension is converted to Low, Mid or High, forming your personal tendency vector.
- It's compared to the 27 type patterns, and the closest type becomes your result.
Where can I see my model scores?
After the test, the result screen shows the five model scores as bars, and each type page in the 27-type dex also shows that type's model scores. To compare two types, read the compatibility guide too.
